Yesterday of Susan Anderson & Gareths Greek Odyssey...putting the mishaps of the previous day behind us and having been woke up at 4am by a cacophony of trucks and scooters passing our front window, we got assertive! Susan marching down to the port to book us on the next available transport out of Las Spetses and I, heading to tell the owner of the pension that we would not be staying (or paying) for another night! Embarked the Flying Dolphin after two overpriced coffees and our mood lifted on arrival at the uber-chic, mega yacht filled yet pretty port of the island of Hydra. After viewing several rooms to let, I settled on a veritable love nest complete with wrought iron bed, swathes of cotton over the headboard, golden mirror and Narnia-style wardrobe (we are trying to rough it, honestly, but some items are essential in any back-packers accommodation!) Found a hidden gem for lunch - the Kyra Limani taverna or Secret Port and enjoyed homemade taramasalata, stuffed vine leaves in a lemon sauce and creme brulee...so relaxed we got through a whole litre of white wine (no surely not, I hear you cry!) After the habitual siesta (the day did get up to a balmy 36°c with intense humidity), we braved the dimly lit yet spectacular 15min walk around the bastion to the sleepy village of Kimini for guess what...Our nightly ouzo! Only risked one for fear of falling off the cliff edge on return, so enjoyed our second in the little coffee shop below our room, Kallopili. Jumping to Susans old home of Poros today, so will be in touch soon! Have a great day one and all! Love ya! X
