Yesterday one the conference members shared a thought from Wayne Cordeiro. Cordeiro argues that 80% of what we do can be done by someone else. Another 15% of what we do can be done by someone else if they undertake some training. He was speaking primarily to leaders in churches. I wonder what the figures are for other Christian professionals? The other 5% is our time with God. No one else can do this. For me as a church leader the 5% does not include things like praying for others or sermon preparation (which wouldnt fit in 5% anyway!). The 5% is my time with God. It is when I sit and listen, when I hear Gods promises and challenges. It is where God leads me as a leader. I suspect that the 5% is true for all Christian leaders (and we all lead somewhere in our lives). So the 5% is worth guarding and fostering no matter what else is happening. How is your 5% going?
