Yesterday, outgoing Illinois Governor Pat Quinn vetoed a bill to authorize, for the first time in 40 years, the trophy hunting and trapping of bobcats. This was the final act in a series of pro-animal actions he took during the six years he served as chief executive of the state, helping Illinois become one of the nation’s most humane states. In today’s blog, I offer my thanks to a very good guy and also some barbs to the outgoing governor of Nebraska, who behaved in ways that neither helped animals nor befitted his office.
