Yesterday, over 25 regional and national agency leaders from the US Forest Service, Natural Resource Conservation Service, Oregon Department of Forestry and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife convened in Ashland for a tour of the Ashland Forest Resiliency Stewardship Project (AFR). Prompted by Ashland’s Mayor John Stromberg, the tour was led by AFR project partners the City of Ashland, local US Forest Service, Lomakatsi Restoration Project and The Nature Conservancy. The AFR Project is gaining national attention as a collaborative community-based model of ecological forestry, an example of all-lands community wildfire preparedness, and a regional center for workforce training and education in ecosystem stewardship. Lomakatsi is proud to be a key partner in this landscape scale forest restoration effort. Learn more about the AFR project at ashlandwatershed.org
