Yesterday started out like it was going to be a good day! I took Kylie to school, went up to get some cleaning supplies and then to Caseys to get Wyatt and Blake some breakfast. Headed home and just caught Blake before he was headed out to work, gave him his stuff and headed in to clean the house. Not too long later, Wyatt left to go out and help Blake and Ronnie load the truck from the bin. In the meantime the phone rang...two rings (Blakes number on the ID) then I picked up and it was dial tone. So, I figured he was trying to get his dad and Wyatt had pulled in out there so Blake just hung up. So, I went about my business of cleaning and 5 minutes later, Wyatt calls. He was fairly upset and said Dad got his hand caught in the auger and its bad...he has already lost 2 fingers! Oh my gosh! And this all happened just before Wyatt got there, so Blake was the only one there with him. I cannot even imagine what thoughts ran through Blakes head. While the injuries could have been much, much worse, that is a very traumatic thing for a 16 year old kid to see. So they called the ambulance and got him to OSF, he had surgery...they had to shorten his middle and ring fingers, the pointer finger was broken in 20 places but they fixed that and the pinky was cut but they fixed that too. He will have to be in the hospital probably til tomorrow as there was a lot of contamination in the wound and they want to pump him full of antibiotics to prevent an infection. So then we get home and go to bed and Kylie had a VERY restless night and didnt sleep well, was coughing some, so I hope this doesnt mean she is on her way to an inpatient visit too! What a way to start Christmas vacation!!
