Yesterday, the Office for National Statistics published a report showing that Britain’s manufacturing industry is becoming more productive and remains a success story. Our long-term economic plan to secure a better future for Britain is working and is helping manufacturing businesses to expand and create new jobs after years of decline under Labour. As the Prime Minister set out yesterday at Prime Minister’s Questions, this follows other evidence in recent weeks that our plan is working: • A record fall in unemployment • Inflation running at a six-year low • The IMF showing that the UK has the fastest-growing economy of any G7 country But the job is not yet done. We must continue to work through our long-term economic plan to build a better and brighter Britain for our children and grandchildren.
