Yesterday, the organizers of the Clean Air, No Excuses rally - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, the organizers of the Clean Air, No Excuses rally informed PeaceUP and Utah Tar Sands Resistance that we were no longer allowed to speak at their event. After being invited to take part in a rally for clean air weeks ago, we did everything we could to support and publicize the event--because clean air is for all of us, and our current campaign to stop tar sands and oil shale mining, as well as our work with frontline communities, all play a big part in the clean air narrative. Many conversations took place with rally organizers over the course of the last 24 hours, and no resolution could be met. One of the women invited to speak yielded her time to Rebecca Hall of PeaceUP, who spoke about abolishing the fossil fuel industry, about climate change, and most importantly about standing and supporting the neglected, frontline communities. One of the organizers attempted to take the mic from her, but others kept her from doing so, supporters shouted let her speak! and Rebecca claimed her space. Thank you to Rebecca. Thank you to all of you who understand that clean air is not just for Democrats, its not just for white people, its not just for politicians. We all deserve clean air, clean water, a livable future, and a right to a life free from oppression. All voices should be heard, and if your are actively censoring neglected voices--youre failing. Well speak more about what happened soon. There will be a video soon. Here are the live-tweets from the rally in the meantime. Thank you for your support.
