Yesterday was Dads day, which means today is Moms day. For this 12th day of the month of Gratitude. When I think of the challenges she has faced in her life and Im amazed. While Dad was off serving our country, Mom kept the home fires burning (as they say). She was there for Rita Jackson-Hudson, Dean Jackson and me every day. She cooked, cleaned, paid the bills, managed the house while Dad was overseas. I cant image being a small town girl from Rosepine taking 3 kids on a plan to German, but she did. Mom continues to be their for all of us and her house in Moss Bluff is home for many of us. We have so many good memories (some sad) of time with Mom. Her making the magic biscuits at our house, grieving gumbo after we lost Ray, driving from Kentucky to Louisiana with 3 kids before cell phones, before GPS, just her, a map and a glass of ice tea. Mom is a rock star and to be candid, I know that at times shes frustrated with us and we with her but I know without a doubt that she loves us and would do anything for us. Several years ago, Bruce Springsteen wrote a song about his Mom called The Wish. Everytime I hear it, I start to tear up and I call Mom. I am so grateful that at 55 years old, I can still call my Mom and tell her I love her. I know that too many of you wish you could do the same. Mom - this ones for you. https://youtube/watch?v=5qhY0mkV_4k
