Yesterday was a little wacky - still dealing with a rebound - TopicsExpress

Yesterday was a little wacky - still dealing with a rebound headache (I caved the other night an took one of the prescription pain pills so I could sleep, but as always, I paid for it), I had a list of errands: get new wiper blades, exchange an hdmi cable at the Comcast Service Ctr., go to the Sprint store for a screen protector and have our local lovely salesperson apply it (he is a genius at it), grocery shop, then home to make dinner. Wipers - done. Comcast - done (why are there always at least four irate people with boundary issues in line there?). Sprint store, alas, out of screen protecters for my tablet, so my guy points me to Best Buy, and says hell be happy to put it on for me (see why we like him?). Head to the parking lot, only to find that one tire is flat. And I mean, flat, resting on the rim, flat. Now I can change a tire, but dont fully trust the jack that came with the car, so I call AARPs version of AAA road service (MUCH better deal than AAA, by the way, and identical coverage), for the first time since we got it. Just like AAA, you call one number, and give them your info, then are transferred to another call center, who assigns your ticket. Estimated wait - 55 minutes. Heres the good part: I get a call 15 minutes later from the actual service guy, and hes only five minutes away. Up pulls a small black SUV, with Road Rescue logos on it, and a guy in head to toe black fatigues gets out. He looks like the Marine version of a Ninja, but hes polite and gets right on it. I had a bad few minutes when he announces that our Government is deliberately causing Global Warming by trying to control weather, and fear I am in for a tinfoil hat harangue, but he calms down and gets on. Turns out, hes a Vet, with back injuries from his service, and started this business for himself, and then started hiring ALL returning Vets as drivers. Initially it was just him, locally, now hes got something like 150 people all over the country, including Hawaii. So he can spout conspiracy theories till the cows come home, for all I care. He changed the tire, was going to try and mend it until he found out I had warranties for road damage which might be voided by doing so, pulled out a mini compressor that hooks onto the car battery and got the spare up to capacity. Im going to find out the contact info and pass it on when I get it…gotta love someone who is creating jobs for returning Vets. The bad news - day now includes taking the bad tire to Just Tires, then back across town to get the screen thingy, back to Sprint which is now so busy that I have to wait nearly an hour for my guy to have time for me. Then market, then home, my headache now aggravated by not having eaten anything in seven hours. But a quick dinner, some green tea, and deep breathing backed it off considerable. Now all I have to do, is go get the mended (or new) tire back on the car, and hopefully - Ill be good to go!
