Yesterday was a packed, exciting day on the trail. It started in Needham, where Kendra and I met up with our friends from Progressive Massachusetts and Progressive Needham at the start of Harvest Fest. We then went to Wellesley, and caught up with Maura Healey for Attorney General and Joe Avellone, and joined them in kicking off the Massachusetts Democratic Party coordinated canvas. From there, we went back to Needham and joined Rep. Denise Garlick to greet families enjoying the beautiful afternoon at Harvest Fest. The next stop was Franklin, for our end-of-summer/start-of-fall BBQ. Delicious pulled pork sandwiches and perfect weather helped make it a great afternoon. The day ended in Attleboro, where I met up with Senator Jim Timilty, Rep. Paul Heroux, Congressman Joe Kennedy III, and dozens of others to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Attleboro campus of Bristol Community College. Throughout the day, conversations centered on a single theme: voters want someone who will fight for them, and always be there for them, as their state Senator. I met a family struggling to keep up with college bills, and have had to take extra jobs to help fill the gap. I met a woman who lost her healthcare when she lost her job, and cannot get local, accessible coverage from the options that are currently available. I met a young man who was trying to go back to school to pursue an advanced degree, and who needs to know that there will be jobs available for him and his friends when they graduate. In each of these conversations, I was reminded about why this campaign matters - about why we fight. We have to be willing to invest and believe in people as much as they are willing to believe in themselves. I know, when we win in November, that we can and will bring this conversation to the forefront of our Senate.
