Yesterday was a truly bittersweet day as I worked my last day for my employer for the past 20 years, Pro-Tech computer services,. The company will be closing the end of September but the commercial PC section ends today. I worked with a great bunch of people who took someone that wasnt very mechanical or adept at troubleshooting was very patient and taught me skills to succeed in my position. I have deep gratitude to Dave, Debbie, Jim, and Marty to allow me to create a career out of what was once a hobby. Very few people in life get the opportunity to make a living out of what they enjoy doing. I like to say that for every door closing behind you there are three opening up ahead of you and I do see that for me. I have a lot of great memories of my years with protech . It was really great to be able to work with my big brother Jim for all these years, something that most people never get a chance to do with a sibling. I remember sitting at the front desk and talking to Debbie sometimes for hours on end over anything and everything, the hours goofing around in the tech room doing bench work and talking about God not only knows what which shouldnt be repeated in public lol. The late lunches at the bar around the corner on Fridays afternoons with Dave Marty and dick smacking Matthew Wilson which included plenty of shooting pool (Matt fancied himself as having a mean stick) . I remember when I was supposed to be training Marty and took him to a Jeep dealership with me and then got into a screaming match with a salesman because he wouldnt write down what his bottom line was on a Jeep I was looking at, obviously Marty was pretty uncomfortable and he probably figured out then I was a little bit crazy. The running joke about Pat not coming in after Ravens games. Jay and myself upgrading the lab after lab in high schools with no AC in the middle of summer, good days and good people that I worked with, great memories. I believe life is measured by chapters that we live; relationships, children, grandchildren, careers, building a home and so on. In the last ten months I have lost Margi, a deeply profound loss, and now the loss of my job, chapters closed unwillingly. I have started a company called Central Maryland Computers, LLC doing essentially the same thing that i do now. I hope this new chapter in my life which begins on Tuesday will be a successful one
