Yesterday was a very remarkable n emotional day 4 me. I was invited 2 University of Abuja as a Special Guest to a program in which d formidable SUG President, Comrade Pelumi seemed 2 have pretended 2 me dt it was jus a normal or d usual Union program. He only craved that I must come so that d students who had heard so much about Igwe can meet him live. I went very late cos I under-estimated what those guys were up to. The Vice Chancellor waited and left. My own leader Dr A.G Umar Kari waited n left. I truly regret it. But d Regitrar,Dean of Students n Bursar remained. I came into d In-door theatre which could not contain a quarter of the great unibujites, to a rousing ovation. I could even talk cos d excited students could jus stop hailing n singing. Later, I was given a Medal of Honor as d Symbol of the Unibuja Students Struggle n also Decorated as the Leader of the Struggle. The presetations were made by the NANS President, Comrade (Dr)Tijani Usman n the Senior Special Assistant 2 President Goodluck Jonathan on Youth n Student Matters, Comrade Jude Imagwe, MON who were also variously honored 2. Another awardee is d Director General National Youth Service Corp who was also present wt his huge entourage of Nigerian Army Officers. A lot of things r underscored by this even. Its neither d Medal nor d investituture that moved me. It was that seven yrs after our titanic struggle 2 restore d dignity of our colleagues n union, some young men n women who didnt meet us but only heard stories can have d courage 2 tell their school senate u were wrong. It is d fact that a school which we were matched out of wt amoured tanks, like Boko Haram or Al-shabab militants will receive me wt an ovation after seven yrs. It is d fact that d spirit of d generations of unibuja students cannot be amputated. It is d fact that our SUG has d honor envisioned under our ultimate leader, Comrade Kari (Ph D) n his comrades-in-arms. It is d fact that d loss of our degrees, d detention, d malicious one year court trial have not been in vain. Most importantly is that over n over again, we r justified n those who plotted evil against us r shamed. Ive always bn unduly praised 4 d gallantry of our struggle. But what wud I av done without d luv n support of our school mates of those glorious yrs? What wud I have done without Titi Lucy Giwa(my dependable deputy) Ahmed Ahmed Ibrahim(d lion-hearted Speaker) Layeni Abdulmuizz(my gallant Chief Scribe), Bidemi Salaudeen Mutiu aka Bidex (My formidable Dir of Welfare), Chinedu Chidi (D eloquent spokesman of d SRA) n Ken Opene (d extra-ordinary parliamentarian)? Again what would I have done without Adedapo Adebiyi Liberty (d courageus spokesman of d union), Ibro (d ASG) Edesiri(my wonderful Tr) Godspower Achojaiye n Abdulmumini of d SRA? Furthermore, how would we have run a focused union without d spiritual guidance of Dr kari, d pioneer elected President of Union Dr Sadeeq Abba n Dr Ernest Ereke? It is u, my mates n indeed these people that I dedicate d honor n award 2. It is 2 my brothers Godwin Eluu, Collins Mandate Okonkwo, Destiny Okosun n Charles Mayor Okoh who suffered detention n one year prosection n trial with us. And u, Ike Soroke, Oluchi Monye, Adaha Opene, Uche Oyali, Jerry Mtsor, Subduee, Ben Orji-mba, Fred Ofili n our families who suffered along with us, were in police during our detention n in court during our trial. It is 4 u, who I may have omitted n u who suffered in silence 4 us. To u, I pledge that Ill remain true 2 my calling, which is to speak d truth, fight injustice n serve humanity,
