Yesterday was fantastic. After 12 years I got back on a motorbike on the track. The drive from Epsom to Mallory park was a little strange, I was thinking about old great times at track days before my accident and at the same time thinking about my accident and the years of pain and grief. Ive never had such opposing feelings at the same time. When Ellie and I arrived at Mallory, my GSXR600 was already there and ready to go. We met the guys and went to the briefing. A needed cuppa tea was had, we then went back over to the bikes, got kitted up and awaited for the inters and fast group to go out first. I was in the novice group and I was up. I was a little nervous but as I lined up in the pit lane with 30 other bikes, the nerves went and turned into happiness. We did 3 sighting laps, were I got used to the gearshifter. Once the sighting laps were done, I slowly built up confidence and got used to the feel of the bike. The next few sessions I got more confidence and quicker. It was strange to not hang off the bike in the corners like I used to, but I couldnt care less. I was so happy and in the zone. Huge thanks to Colin Hart and Kieran Sangha from Hart motors who did all the hard work on my bike. Dave Lloyd, Matt Townsend, Lee Peach Dixon, Jennie Wren, Kane Rees, Tom Kirby and my old mate Andy for coming to Mallory and showing there support. Obviously, I need to say a massive thanks to my amazing lady, Elena Charman. Youve pushed me into doing so much stuff that I wouldnt of done myself. I know you dont do soppy shit, but I love you so much :-P Will I do more bike track days!!!! Hell yeah.
