Yesterday was my last tri of the summer, I have spent today - TopicsExpress

Yesterday was my last tri of the summer, I have spent today thinking a great deal about this season. Since I am such a newbie and most of the time have no clear plan (like a very wise woman said, “First you swim, then you run, then you bike…that’s the plan!), I thought a progress report is more appropriate than a race report. In comparing last summer’s tri to yesterday’s these are the improvements I have made: Swim; from a 3:02 per 100 to 2:18 per 100. Bike; from 14.8 mph to 16.8 mph (with hills in Nevis). Run; from 15:20 minute mile to 12:03 minute mile (plus I ran the whole run portion without walking). Although some of the race results from this summer have been questionable, I know from yesterday’s race I have definitively dropped 14 minutes off my overall time! I do have much to improve on, but I totally love this sport and am excited every time I go out to train (even running!). I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has given encouragement and advice along the way. This club has been a source of support, and for most not even realizing you were giving support/advice. Just listening to others experiences has been tremendously helpful. And as a newbie I have felt accepted and encouraged. Talking with other newbies, I know I am not alone in this. Thank you all for the inspiration to continually improve and know that even when you do not realize it, you all have had a profound effect. I am already looking forward to next year and being a part of this most awesome sport and club! Much love and a big Woot, woot!!
