Yesterday was my spiritual birthday! Three years ago I trusted the Lord, and was saved. I had lived a religious life and in the eyes of most, I was saved. Praise the Lord (through Holy Ghost preaching and conviction) I came to realize there must be more to salvation than saying words, praying a prayer, or intellectually believing about Jesus. As I studied scripture, I saw example after example of how religious people were told to be saved (born again) in order to enter Heaven and escape Hell. I found that Biblical salvation is not the salvation being promoted in most churches today. There must come a point in an individual’s life when sin is repented of, and saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is exercised. When this happens you will know it, and have assurance of salvation. We live in a day of apostasy where deceivers tell others to repeat a prayer, sign a tract, or follow some other religious ritual. The attempt is then made to give assurance that heaven is their future. The sad reality is that many of these individuals are still unsaved, and in worse condition because of the false assurance given. I’m so thankful for true saving faith, and a loving God who will give peace that passes all understanding to anyone who believes.
