Yesterday was quite an interesting race day. I headed to Medina RC Raceway with Team Tekin Racing teammate Joe Bornhorst, excited for my first outdoor race of the season. Upon arrival we learned that the water to the park was still shut off by the city (below freezing temps this week). We decided that wouldnt stop us and I began to work on a setup for my Tekno ET48. After practice and dialing in my buggy and truggy, We attempted to begin qualifying. Joe got through one qualifier and before my heat the track experienced some computer issues (which I hear they got fixed later that afternoon). We decided to pack up and head 80mi east to Shays RC Park. Joe called ahead to the RD and let bill know we were on our way and he was gracious enough to delay round 2 until we got there. We got out of the truck, swapped tires and went straight to the drivers stand. Having never driver at Shays RC Park before I made some mistakes in my buggy qualifiers and landed my self 1st in the B-main. In truggy I did a bit better placing my Tekin equipped Tekno ET48 2nd on the grid right behind Joe. Before my buggy B-Main I used my Tekin Racing Hotwire 2.0 and Android app to make some quick RX8 profile changes and made one last setup change to my Tekno RC EB48.2. In the B main I finally got the rhythm and timing of the track. I was able to lap the field and take the bump to the A-main. I came off the stand and was informed the E-scale A-main was next. Being a 8-min race I wasnt confident pack in the car would make it and was forced to use a battery from my truggy to run the A. This was a horrible idea... My truggy packs are almost 3oz heavier and really threw off my buggy. My truggy A-main was a absolute blast and I was able to take 3rd place and throw in some back flips for the kids! I love truggy more and more every time it hits the track! All said and done it was a great day, I got to throw laps down with awesome cars on two different tracks, spend time with great friends, and represent great companies that Im proud to represent. As always a big thanks to Tekno RC, Tekin, PT RC Racing oils, and Magic Hobbies for their support.
