Yesterday was the Armstrong Search Associates Inc. and Young Professionals in Energy-Pittsburgh Energy Industry Training Series with the theme Public/Media/and Government relations. This unique event in the Energy Training series helped land professionals, attorneys, and oil and gas executives work with the public, media, and government agencies to achieve their goals. The day began with an attorney discussing extreme examples of bias against the oil and gas industry and analyze if they have legal groundings. The seminar then took a look back and answered the questions; Why did the energy industry get a bad reputation and what could it have done differently? The presentation then transitioned to key advice from media outlets and government employees. The audience learned how to foster relationships with both of these parties. The second to last presentation was led by a senior attorney and a public relations worker- they talked about what to do in a crisis. And discussed in-depth legal ramifications, preparing for litigation, solving problems and minimizing reputation damage.
