Yesterday was the day where the Will County Clerk verified the accuracy of the ballot counters. From a list of randomly selected ballot counting voting machines (Reed 3, Wheatland 9, 11, 29, Dupage 3, 28, 35, Plainfield 29, 35, Wesley 1, New Lenox 2, Frankfort 2, Homer 4, Monee 1, and Troy 3), the group re-tabulated those election day ballots in the precincts to make sure the machines counted each vote. The first photo shows the Will County Clerk Nancy Schultz Voots outlining the procedures. The second photo shows the personnel running the ballots through the machine. The third photo shows Marianne DeMeritt and Kathy Havel, Republican Vice-Chairmen and our Democrat counterparts going down each and every race verifying that the reported results matched the re-tabulation. More than half the machines showed identical results in each race. Because a few voters only put a line through the oval right at the exact point where the machines would detect a darken oval, isolated random differences of one vote rarely happened. The re-tabulation did show that Ken Kaupas would pick up 3 votes in these precincts if there were a recount. Kudos to Will County Clerk Nancy Schultz Voots and her staff for the professional way they verified the accuracy of the machines and the election day results.
