Yesterday was the final day of the “Islamic study course” at the Christian Student Center (week six). Just as was done during the previous nights, a video was shown. It was a multipart video entitled “Islam, the Quran, and Christianity,” produced by Apologetics Press. On the title cards in the video, the name Dr. Dave Miller, Ph.D. flashed on the screen, as he was responsible for researching, compiling, and presenting the subject on the video. I researched the company, Dr. Miller, and the video during the session, discovering that Dr. Miller held a PhD. in Rhetoric (clearly not the credential to serve as an authority on the subject). Furthermore, the video was not from a scholarly perspective, and it is an insult to Christianity to suggest it was from a Christian perspective. It was simply anti-Islamic propaganda. Perhaps more credibility and justice would have been served if there were some faculty from the Department of Religious Studies and actual Muslims. Nevertheless, everyone was very kind, as Imam Tariq Abdur Rashid of the Valdosta Islamic Center and I were well received. At the conclusion of the video, the Imam addressed the meeting during the discussion window. I have posted the link below. His address is approximately three minutes in length. The video is not so good, as my phone was dim since it was dying, so I clearly did not get a good view. The speech is very audible and good, though!
