Yesterday was the first day of school for children in KZN :) Here is a message from TREEs Director, Bertha Magoge on this very important day ... Saving our Nation’ Brains! Today was the start of the 1st day of school and there were many tears from both parents and learners as they marked this “Right of passage!” TREE decided to follow our little children from the Briadene community to Briadene Primary school where they start their brand new life as Grade Rs in Big school. We wanted to give them a very big welcome and a warm Uthando hug as they mark this significant milestone. So we gave each Grade R a bright Uthando Doll to keep them company during their very first day and to take it home and share their experience with their loved ones at home. Mrs Jacobs and her team at the school were phenomenal in keeping everyone calm and accommodating of course the parents who just wouldn’t leave! Well done to Briadene School- this is a school ready to receive the delicate little brains! TREEs work in Early Childhood Development is an immense privilege, we realise how critical it is to prepare children at a much earlier phase to give children’s brains the best chance of developing to full potential. ECD is a crucial investment that leads to high returns for each child and a guaranteed future for the country! As such we must start even earlier to ensure that children get the best start in life. It is true what they say ….the future belongs to those who prepare for it. Let’s all prepare now for our children! We wish all young children a fantastic year of learning, growing, Discovering through PLAY in 2015!
