Yesterday we all mourned the inability for the people on this planet to live in harmony. Today we celebrate the ability of man to transmit some harmony beyond our solar system. Voyager 1 left the solar system today almost exactly 36 years after launch. Many people forget that aboard Voyager is a copper and gold disc that contains information about life on Earth just in case an ET has a Sony Discman handy. The important thing is the variety of music that was placed on that disc. NASA included music from most corners of the world - Eastern / Western / Friend / Foe. It allows a being with no knowledge of Earth to see how the people of this planet can live together even with completely different beliefs in what constitutes "music." If only we learned that lesson as well. Pull up the Voyager song list and enjoy the variations.
