Yesterday we asked how everyone learns English vocabulary. Thanks to everyone who posted their answers! Unfortunately, there is no list of vocabulary that you can learn in preparation for the #IELTSReading or #IELTSListening tests, as the vocabulary comes from a wide range of different sources and changes regularly. The best way to prepare would be to read a variety of newspapers, magazines, leaflets and articles. However, there is a list of 2,000 words that are most commonly used in English which is called the “General Service List”, which you can familiarize yourself with. There is also a smaller, more manageable list of 570 headwords most commonly used in academic texts, which are the same kind of texts used in the IELTS Academic module.
