Yesterday we chatted breakfast and I heard from many of you who dont do breakfast. A few years ago, I wouldve said, Your grandmother was right! You have to eat your breakfast! Then, I started sitting with people who didnt eat breakfast, and tried to get them to eat breakfast. Some did fine, others did not. Then, I stopped eating breakfast every day, having my first meal between 11am-1pm, after a 18-20 hour fast. Then, research started trickling in that breakfast isnt necessarily key for everyone for maintaining health, weight, and so forth. Huh. It shows me that its important to be flexible when it comes to you what you think is right/true. So, like breakfast choices, like food choices, like training/exercise choices, like choices on what to read or your relationships or your profession or whatever, what works for our own individual body is what rules. By work, I mean what makes the body feel good. What minimizes or eliminates symptoms and creates feelings of well-being. What keeps systems and operations running smoothly. What doesnt feel like a punishment. Enter, skipping breakfast or not. technically this is called intermittent fasting (IF), and if you stay current in the health circles, youve likely heard this term before. IF can be used for people with digestive distress, especially in those who wake up queasy, bloated, gassy and/or whose symptoms are worsened with breakfast. I know have a couple dozen clients under my belt who after trying many breakfast nutritional strategies, I moved to simply…Forget it. Skip it. Though that may sound cavalier, in those cases it was the *thing* that moved the dial towards feeling good. Does it help everyone? Of course not. News Flash: There is nothing that helps everyone, except perhaps unconditional love
