Yesterday we found out F/V Noahs Ark will be in for repairs at least 2 more weeks. Thats one full month out of a very busy harvest season. For a 9 to 5 job it would be equivalent to 4+ months. In seasonal work, once the harvest is over, its over & then you plan, prepare, invest & wait for the next season. So yesterday was an especially hard day; Buzz & I were both drained from the news. Today started out much the same, feeling overwhelmed, stressed, anxious about all that couldnt be accomplished while we waited. And then my mind was brought back to the night of the accident. As the boat was being hauled out at Jonesport Shipyard my attention was drawn to a magnificent cloud formation, its reflection in the still waters of Sawyers Cove & the super moon which caused additional tidal pull & quite possibly was the underlying reason Buzz misjudged the oceans depth & hit a ledge in an area that he knew very well. It wasnt until I stopped concentrating on the boat that I could recognize beauty all around me & in that moment I was able to remember how blessed we really are. Exploring the clouds I found a lobster boat & we laughed imagining it was F/V Noahs Ark skipping out over the ledge. Simply by shifting our focus, we were able to see beauty & experience joy. So tonight Im refocusing...again...shifting from whats been lost to what is still there...on the goodness & beauty that surrounds us still. And so it is with life. We rest in a spirit of abundance & fullness of life or anxiously cling to a spirit of fear, lack & scarcity. Its a daily choice & in especially hard times, it can be moment to moment. May there be recognition & acknowledgement of the Spirit of Abundance until beauty & joy fills all Creation is my prayer.
