Yesterday we lost our dear friend Ian Reid. Ian reminded me recently that he was first diagnosed with his super esoteric brain tumor twelve years ago, which meant that Ian had been facing the prospect of untimely death for most of our friendship. That was hard to believe, because our time with Ian has been so joyful...thanks not only to his own intense passion for life but also to the incredible love he shared with his husband Paul, who made it his mission to fill these years with happiness and love. That love has filled our lives for more than a decade...and made the two of them such a unit that until recently their godson Peanut thought they were a single being named Paulandian. And what PaulandIan taught us all is that there is nothing more beautiful, more miraculous, or more true than just loving someone so much and so generously and so fully that you literally keep them not just alive, but joyfully alive.
