Yesterday we visited the ENT clinic at Arkansas Childrens - TopicsExpress

Yesterday we visited the ENT clinic at Arkansas Childrens Hospital. We were hoping for an all clear, everything is fine but its not exactly what we got. Kip recently had an ear infection in his left ear. They looked at this ear and decided the tube looked functional and everything seemed to be in order. Then they looked at the right ear. It seems like the tube is also functioning in this ear as well, but unfortunately it appears as though the tube is bulging. We are not sure what this means. ENT is concerned there is still fluid behind the ear drum. This is not good. They removed a piece of wax or snot from his right ear. We were given more ear drops and a nasal spray to help get rid of the drainage. We talked about Kips breathing issues. They mentioned a sleep study and requested we video Kip sleeping to be sure there is no apnea (because he has never been able to sleep soundly & he snores) Needless to say, we have just as many questions as answers. ENT requested that we be sure to talk to Cardiology at the end of January at our appointment to be sure that the breathing issues are not cardiac related. And then we will come back to ENT at the end of February for a hearing test and another look at Kips ears. We sincerely hope that he requires no more surgeries. He has spiked a fever tonight, and it is another ear infection. The poor guy had 103.5! We went into panic mode and stripped him, gave him Motrin, and cold towels. Within 45 minutes we had it under 102 and he has improved since. He just cannot catch a break. I was all for these tubes when we had it done, now I may be regretting it! :( Love to all. Kip & Family
