Yesterday when the A/C tech (the awesome competent one) came into our house he saw my signed Portal 2 poster and the corner of consoles. This understandably launched him into a series of questions about what I do for a living. It morphed into a conversation about how to break into the industry, how to present yourself, how to evaluate games critically...I realized this dude was looking up to me and it felt strange. But it also convinced me once and for all that I (and a few others!) need to start a home on the internet dedicated to helping people get started. A podcast, a seminar, a book, something.
