Yesterday while I was at work, I spoke to mum to see how her day had been, she was crying and explained what was causing the distress. She has now put in words the events that had caused this upset. As her daughter, it is very hard to see her upset, it is made even harder to know that this distress is caused by others. Dad fought a difficult battle and was so knowledgeable about the fire service that these events just hurt the family so much. Hopefully the truth will prevail and mum will be able to get the closure she deserves. Please read her words below, thanks Meagan. I feel I have to put this down on paper yesterday was a very distressing day for me. I know I am very protective and sensitive about Brian and his memory. I just happened to get on a site of a Foundation that in its beginning Brian was very much a part of and put lots of work and hours into. Most of it people would not even know. I saw that they had just celebrated a anniversary of the formation of this foundation. My immediate thoughts were great a bit more to add to Brians history for the family. Then the distressing part came. In the anniversary information there was no mention of Brian anywhere on the DVD or booklet. The CFA portion was addressed by someone that was in another fire service at the time. A lot was mentioned about Ash Wednesday by this person, who better could they have asked to talk on that subject, a topic very close to Brian. It was great to see some of the old faces of the different services talking about there involvement and how proud Brian would have been to have played a part in documenting this history. As anyone who kept in contact with us knows there was nothing wrong with his determination and mind and right up until the end was never short of a word and carried out many speaking engagements right up until his death. I have contacted this organization to be rang back and told to put it down on paper and send it to the board. I was also told he was spoken of there as A Great Man I suspect in only a situation that it is for their benefit. Brian was always a very private and dignified person who didnt look for recognition for his great knowledge and would help anyone if he could. On many occasions he was used and didnt get the recognition he deserved. I dont want to mention names but Brian was also a very feeling person and on many occasions he was taken advantage of by people very close to him.
