Yesterdays APC primaries in Kaduna took place at a venue not more than 100 metres away from my office, which I was initially unaware of, until fracas caused by some political thugs broke out. The soldiers on ground started shooting sporadically and in all directions. Not more than 20mins after that, we went into the mosque to observe the Asri prayer. Suddenly, we started hearing the gunshots again while we were still on salat. The soldiers chased a guy who ran through the mosque, and that did not deter the soldiers from entering the mosque area, shouting and shooting at the same time. Immediately after the salaat, a worshiper amongst us warned that no one should go out of the mosque, but in chorus, the rest of the congregation shouted at him that, this is how we will sit down and they will start shooting at us all one after the other. The people rushed out of the mosque and gave the wild and stern looking soldiers a serious confrontation. So even when the soldiers started shooting to scare the people back, they again chanted in chorus that, they will rather die than to be humiliated in the mosque of Allaah. This led the soldiers to vacate the scene. Some people have turn themselves into social media gladiators and Terminators, gnating their teeth and wielding their swords and keyboard AK-47 as though they are ready for a total showdown, while the real killers and exterminations are not even fans of the social media. The youths are wasting their lives and time doing useless and ineffective talking, because in most cases, it does not travel pass their timelines. Its time we retrace our steps and correct our mistakes. Time is no longer on our side; our enemies are making huge gains on us as they celebrate their successes. For those directly affected by the insurgency, see life differently now, and as for those who see it far away from them, they should remember those dying today also saw it the same way some few years back. May Allaah give us victory over our enemies and the enemies of Islaam.
