Yesterdays drive, passing from northern central Texas westward - TopicsExpress

Yesterdays drive, passing from northern central Texas westward into southeast New Mexico, the change in landscape was wonderful. It varied from flat cattle lands with many economically depressed small towns, to rolling hills of dessert and then into alpine forest as I headed into the Lincoln National Forest with its gorgeous mountains, gorges, windy roads and streams. Sunset last night, as I hiked alone to the base of the mountains west of Las Cruces, NM where I couchsurfed for the night, was beautiful, electric, an amazing backdrop as the sun slid down behind the mountains to the west. As I walked back on the deserted road, alone, in the middle of now where, singing a song I was making up about my loss and the pain, I got the ache I get in my forehead when I am really sad. It does not feel good, it hurts, its a physical ache, and I found myself going into gratitude, singing about all the amazingly positive and beautiful things in my life I have appreciation for, and the pain dissolved, the tears dried up, and I laughed in joy at the realization that I intentionally move myself through the pain and into joy, but always no matter what, no matter where I am, allowing the pain to come. Today I will arrive at my destination, the reason for this trip, and am grateful for the opportunity that this time presents. I love this part of the country so much, what a gift to be here, to have a sound vehicle, a healthy body and mind and spirit and making the choice to do this. Time to be, time to explore, time to cry, time to laugh, the gift of time. wow. So many things that money simply can not buy, and time is one of them.
