Yesterdays elections in the US put the last nail in the coffin of hopefulness. As reluctant as democrats are to do anything significant regarding the climate emergency, republicans, who are anti-science, anti-evolution and anti-climate change, are even less likely to do anything to reduce the risks of climate change. There is no longer the slightest reason to be hopeful that life on the planet isnt doomed. I am so saddened and angry at the election results. They show the effects of republican lies, distortions, half-truths and boatloads of money from the wealthy to advertise how great republicans are and how we should fear democrats. They will do everything they can, unwittingly, to insure the end of our society as we now know it. The last nail has been driven. On top of all this bad news, my local newspaper, The Morning Call of Allentown, PA., has a large spread in the local section about this weekends bacon fest in Easton, PA. I dont need to say anything about this; you all know how I look at it. So its a really crappy day for me and, Im very sure, for most of you. I dont know what I can offer except empathy.
