Yesterdays funeral for my sweetheart was an amazing experience. I felt like it truly personified the life of my husband, Alvin E. Salima. Of the over 1,000 people who attended I wish to extend a heartfelt thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to help me in bidding my sweetheart goodbye until the resurrection rolls forth. Senator Michael S. Lee, and Boyd Matheson, took the time out of an insane schedule to come pay their respects to Alvin. Sean D. Reyes did the same, and knelt down to embrace my precious 7-year old nephew who was brokenhearted and sobbing because he loves his Uncle so much. He held him, and whispered to him softly until Elias was more calm. Sean then wrote his cell number on a business card and told Elias to call him from my phone next week if he wanted to talk. The impact Uncle Sean had Elias was tremendous. Friends and family, from every walk of life, flew and drove from long distances to say goodbye to Alvin. A huge thank you to Linda Wells Keilbart Scanlan, Scott Smith and Laura Lori Smith, Rosa Lynn Smith and Debb McVay Tuttle for standing by my side and helping me to pull everything together. Huge thank you to Connor A Hunt who stayed by me, walked with me, held me when I needed to be held, and generally kept a protective eye out for his auntie. Heather Sluyter Hunt, my sweet sister, helped me from the moment Alvin died and has not stopped. I love her so much and she has done much. Linda came the day Alvin died and did not leave until this morning and created a beautiful scrapbook of Alvin for me. The funeral was beautiful with stunning music and talks that truly personified Alvin. The overriding message was that Alvin loved everyone, loved the Savior, loved me, and loved his music. I love each and every one of you who came. Alvin is free from earthly trials now, now it is up to us live in such a way that we will be united with him again.
