Yesterdays historical and proud Golden Welcome was a very emotional one for me. To see the people of Poreporena come out in full support, the unifying factor was something I will always treasure for a long time to come. Some doubting thomases underestimated the work of my vibrant committee but we proved them wrong. Some even jumped on the bandwagon and wanted to hijack my organisation of the event. The numbers that turned out at the airport and in Hanuabada was amazing. The unity that the outstanding performances of Dika and Steven brought to our village and indeed PNG was contagious. We not only produce gold medal winners but we showed that we can produce a gold medal ceremony. Congratulations to everyone that participated. A special mention to our MP and Minister Hon Micheal Malabag because without his gold medal support this event yesterday would not have been possible. A big thank you to other sponsors as well.
