Yesterdays unemployment figures are great news for everyone in Plymouth Sutton and Devonport. Since September 2010, the number of people claiming Jobseekers Allowance has fallen by 38%. Unemployment in Plymouth Sutton and Devonport is down to 3.8%. This has happened thanks to our action in Government: backing local businesses to create up to 10,000 new jobs in South Yard through the City Deal with our long-term economic plan, reforming welfare so that it pays to work and increasing the state pension to ensure that people who have worked all their lives are properly rewarded. These figures show that our plan is working, which means greater financial security for hardworking taxpayers and their families in Plymouth Sutton and Devonport.
