YewaEcho Wrote!!! OTUNBA GBENGA DANIEL PLOTTING TO DESTABILISE LABOUR PARTY IN OGUN STATE - BODE SIMEON AND OTHERS The crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of the Labour Party worsened on Monday as members of the Ogun State Executive of the party petitioned the police and the State Security Service over alleged opening of a parallel secretariat of the party in the state by former governor Gbenga Daniel. It also accused the ex-governor of plotting to destabilise the party in the state in conjunction with the arrowheads of an opposition party. The LP state exco therefore urged the two security agencies to stop Daniel from opening such a parallel party secretariat in the state. The party exco also urged the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi, to declare the seats of four lawmakers vacant for allegedly failing the people of their constituencies. The LP exco is demanding that the seats occupied by Remmy Hassan from Odogbolu, John Obafemi from Remo North, Adeleke Salmon from Imeko-Afon and Samson Onademuren from Ijebu-North-East in the Assembly be declared vacant by the Speaker. The petition dated January 20, 2014, was signed by the LP State Secretary, Sunday Oginni, titled ‘Declaration of Support by Ogun State Labour Party for His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and Petition Against Otunba Gbenga Daniel and a member of House of Representatives in Ondo State, Dr . Akinlaja Joseph’. But Daniel, in a reaction through a factional Secretary of the party in the state, Micheal Adegbola, described the allegation as spurious. The former governor stressed that the step taken by the national headquarters of the party in suspending the state LP Chairman, Olabode Simeon, was in order. In the petition, the Ogun LP exco alleged in the petition that “Otunba Gbenga Daniel has been having nocturnal meetings with Rivers State Governor, His Excellency, Governor Rotimi Amaechi, and the National Leader of the APC, Sen. Bola Tinubu, with a mandate to destabilise Labour Party from our programme of support for Jonathan.” The LP exco therefore requested the police and the SSS to”prevent, stop and put on hold any attempt by Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Dr. Joseph Akinlaja or any of their agents, representatives and associate from opening any parallel office bearing the name and logo of Ogun State Labour Party in any part of Ogun State.” It also urged the security agencies “to investigate the motives, actions and inactions of Otunba Gbenga Daniel meetings as related to Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State and Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu to cause anarchy and civil disturbances among the political parties in Ogun State.”
