This was the only efficient as arrogant. but that all pleasures to premantura as Rudra is supposed to. रुद्र का शाब्दिक अर्थ होता है - रुत् यानी दु:खों का अंत करने वाला। यही वजह है कि शिव को दु:खों को नाश करने वाले देवता के रुप में भी पूजा जाता है। व्यावहारिक जीवन में कोई दु:खों को तभी भोगता है, जब तन, मन या कर्म किसी न किसी रूप में अपवित्र होते हैं। शिव के रुद्र रूप की आराधना का महत्व यही है कि इससे व्यक्ति का चित्त पवित्र रहता है और वह ऐसे कर्म और विचारों से दूर होता है, जो मन में बुरे भाव पैदा करे। शास्त्रों के मुताबिक शिव ग्यारह अलग-अलग रुद्र रूपों में दु:खों का नाश करते हैं। यह ग्यारह रूप एकादश रुद्र के नाम से जाने जाते हैं। जानिए ग्यारह रूद्र रूप व शक्तियों से जुड़ी बातें - शम्भू - शास्त्रों के मुताबिक यह रुद्र रूप साक्षात ब्रह्म है। इस रूप में ही वह जगत की रचना, पालन और संहार करते हैं। पिनाकी - ज्ञान शक्ति रुपी चारों वेदों के के स्वरुप माने जाने वाले पिनाकी रुद्र दु:खों का अंत करते हैं। गिरीश - कैलाशवासी होने से रुद्र का तीसरा रुप गिरीश कहलाता है। इस रुप में रुद्र सुख और आनंद देने वाले माने गए हैं। स्थाणु - समाधि, तप और आत्मलीन होने से रुद्र का चौथा अवतार स्थाणु कहलाता है। इस रुप में पार्वती रूप शक्ति बाएं भाग में विराजित होती है। भर्ग - भगवान रुद्र का यह रुप बहुत तेजोमयी है। इस रुप में रुद्र हर भय और पीड़ा का नाश करने वाले होते हैं। भव - रुद्र का भव रुप ज्ञान बल, योग बल और भगवत प्रेम के रुप में सुख देने वाला माना जाता है। सदाशिव - रुद्र का यह स्वरुप निराकार ब्रह्म का साकार रूप माना जाता है, जो सभी वैभव, सुख और आनंद देने वाला माना जाता है। शिव - यह रुद्र रूप अंतहीन सुख देने वाला यानी कल्याण करने वाला माना जाता है। मोक्ष प्राप्ति के लिए शिव आराधना महत्वपूर्ण मानी जाती है। हर - इस रुप में नाग धारण करने वाले रुद्र शारीरिक, मानसिक और सांसारिक दु:खों को हर लेते हैं। नाग रूपी काल पर इन का नियंत्रण होता है। शर्व - काल को भी काबू में रखने वाला यह रुद्र रूप शर्व कहलाता है। कपाली - कपाल रखने के कारण रुद्र का यह रूप कपाली कहलाता है। इस रूप में ही दक्ष का दंभ नष्ट किया। किंतु प्राणीमात्र के लिए रुद्र का यही रूप समस्त सुख देने वाला माना जाता है।
