Yogis excellent book The Jews and the Olympic Games gives a marvellous personal insight into what life was like in Nazi Germany and how world class Jewish athletes were barred from sports clubs, competitions and from representing their country. Yogi, also tells us quite a bit about himself and how he tries to keep Jewish sport going in the most horrendous circumstances. There does not seem to be any published information about Yogis activities in the S.O.E. and his work in Nazi occupied Europe. However, if you want to know about Yogis post-war activities the book The Boys by Martin Gilbert is a must read. From 1947 until 1951 Yogi ran the Primrose Club in Belsize Park. This club was set up for Jewish teenage survivors of the Nazi death camps. The idea of the club was to settle these boys into a normal way of life. It was a great success. Lastly, Yogi taught P.E. at the Hasmonean School in Hendon. I would really like to know how well he got on with Rabbi Dr. Solomon Schonfeld the principal of the school. Two charismatic men with differing Jewish philosophies.
