York, SC – Richard Eugene Stikeleather Jr., 61, passed away November 15, 2013 at his residence. A native of Mecklenburg County, he was the son of Minnie Melva Moss Stikeleather Rodgers and the late Richard Eugene Stikeleather Sr. Mr. Stikeleather was a United States Air Force veteran, member of Southside Baptist Church in Charlotte and sang in the St. James Male Chorus. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Poteat Stikeleather of the home; sons, Steven Stikeleather and wife Christine of SC, Shaun Stikeleather and wife Amanda of PA; mother, Minnie Melva Moss Stikeleather Rodgers of NC; sister, Regena Biddle of NC; and granddaughters, Caitlyn and Abigail. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roger and Randy Stikeleather. A funeral service will be held at 2pm Saturday in the Colonial Chapel of Carothers Funeral Home in Gastonia with Pastor Steve Kelly officiating. Interment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery with military honors to be provided by Gaston County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
