Yosemite Lunch Walk 123 The smoke in the valley was noticeable - TopicsExpress

Yosemite Lunch Walk 123 The smoke in the valley was noticeable this morning, but a change in wind direction is pushing the smoke from the Meadow Fire to the east once again, and we have pretty good air quality here in Yosemite Village. My daughter, Renee, joined me again on the walk today. We strolled through the village and over to the Lower Fall Trail on the northern edge of Cooks Meadow by Yosemite Falls. The first vertical iPhone image shows the upper fall (or lack thereof) through the black oak trees, with drying ferns in the foreground. The second square image is a closeup of dogwood tree leaves turning magenta and yellow on the Falls Trail, and the third is a fern branch against the bark of a pine tree. Its currently 82° in Yosemite Valley, with winds WNW @ 9mph. Air quality is good (but not excellent), and so is visibility.
