Yosemite Lunch Walk 154 Todays iPhone images were taken on and around the south bank of the Merced River near Superintendents Bridge, i.e. the northern perimeter of Sentinel Meadow. Youll need to open the first image to see it all. Leaves have gathered on the shoreline, which extends into the center of the river at this low point in the season. The reflection in the water shows the fall color of a distant black oak tree in Cooks Meadow (north side of the river) and also the silhouette of the granite wall where Yosemite Falls is located (currently dry). The second and third square images are what you see when you look down instead of up: leaves and dry grass in the meadows. Its currently 44° with winds SSW @ 8mph. Overcast skies, but no rain to speak of . . . yet. The power was out again in Yosemite Valley for a few hours today; but thankfully, its back on. For you non-locals: our offices are on generators, but many hotel guest rooms and all private residences are NOT on generators, and they go dark when the power goes out.
