You Are Never Alone! Hebrews 13:5-6 says, He himself has said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. So we may BOLDLY say: The Lord is my helper;I will not fear. In any given situation, when you have someone with you that you trust it gives you a feeling of security does it not? But the fear of being alone, or being left alone is very unsettling! When you were a child did you ever get lost while shopping with you parents? I did once or twice! The feeling of helplessness is kind of overwhelming; you feel frozen in an unfamiliar place with people you dont know. Its kind of like paralysis. Suddenly you feel like you cant move, you freeze in fear. Luckily for most of us, when this kind of situation happens, there are kind enough people around to help us find our parents and bring us to a place of safety where nothing can harm us. A feeling of safety is so important in any situation in life. We have firemen, trucks and hydrants that give us assurance that in case of a fire, we can call 911 and help will be on the way! We have safety shoes to protect our feet from harm if we work in a commercial kitchen or construction. There are simple safety rules everywhere you go and whatever you do and being safe gives you a feeling of security. I remember learning from Elmer the Safety Elephant in school when I was a kid. Among the many safety rules we learned from him I remember he taught us basic safety in crossing the street, walking on roads without sidewalks and the dangers of talking to strangers. So what is our place of safety spiritually? It is in the Lord Himself, for He has promised to never leave or forsake us. We will not be left alone! We never need to fear abandonment when we belong to Jesus. No matter what kind of situation we find ourselves in - whether an unsteady financial predicament, sickness, death, divorce, or even in the fear of our own weaknesses and failures, we can depend on our Saviour to be with us, and that in His great faithfulness, love and mercy He will be or guide even unto death. (Hebrews 48:14) Isnt that great news!? We are NEVER alone!!
