You Are Not Under The Law ROMANS 7:4 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. You are not under the (Old Covenant) Law as a way of being right with God. Just as a wife whose husband has died is no longer in that marriage after her husband dies, we are no longer in a relationship with the Law for the purpose of being right with God. ROMANS 7:1-2 1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? The Law is still good. For example, it is still wrong to steal and murder. And it is still right to worship God. But we no longer do those things in order to be right with God. Instead we do them BECAUSE we are already right with God by being joined with Jesus Christ. Now it is His life in us that causes us to live right. We do not live right in order to get Gods approval. Instead we were given Gods love and acceptance as a gift. Ephesians 2:8-9, 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 5:17 17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Because of our union with Christ Jesus, we can manifest Gods will naturally from our new heart. Romans 5:5 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. We have new life in us, His life, which causes us to act differently. GALATIANS 5:18 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. ROMANS 3:20 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. GALATIANS 2:16 16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. ROMANS 6:14-15 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. 15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. COLOSSIANS 3:3 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. GALATIANS 2:19-20 19 For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. 20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I died with Christ, so I am free from the demands of keeping the Law in order to be in good standing with God.
