You Are Your Own Barrier To Success. It’s that time of the week again, Athlete of The Week. We hope everyone enjoyed our meal plan over the weekend, we certainly thought it was a delicious treat! Now it’s time to hop right into our featured athlete, Vince J. from Illinois. Vince is currently a junior at Northern Illinois University with his sights on a career in Kinesiology. He is quite the motivated individual, hoping to attain a Master’s after finishing up undergrad. We found him with a medley of fitness-related activities under his belt. But let’s hear more from him, shall we? Tell us Vince – What is fitness to you? ----- “My range of interests and hobbies range from power lifting, martial arts, to playing different instruments like the piano and guitar. I am hoping to continue to increase my bench, squat, and dead lift numbers to compete in my first power lifting competition. I want to carry over this explosive power and strength to future Muay Thai training. I love health and fitness for everything it is. At the end of the day, it’s really just you against yourself. The battle of finishing that last rep or deciding what to eat at home. That’s all on you. It’s such a great lifestyle. It is just as mentally demanding as it is physically, and that challenge fuels me. You can have the biggest biceps in the world, but nothing matters if you don’t have a big heart and a good head on your shoulders. This kind of lifestyle can carry over into everything else you do in life. The dedication, patience, grind, perseverance can all be applied to other aspects of your being such as school or the workplace. Growing up I didnt have the best self esteem, but now I am confident in myself and my abilities. I have an amazing community that has had my back along this journey. My family, friends, fellow lifters, all motivate me to never settle for mediocrity and to always be the best me I can be. Your body is the one and only one you have, so why not take care of it!” ----- We couldn’t have said it better Vince, you only get one body in this lifetime so why not make the most of it while you can. It truly is a lifestyle to be fit, healthy and active, and who knows…You might just have a little bit of fun while doing it. - The Exceed Evolution Team
