You Are a New Creation in Christ 3 An important point to note in the truth that you are a new creation in Christ is that this new creation you are in Christ is actually Gods creation. It means that what you have become in Christ is Gods creative work. The Lord who created heaven and earth has created you to be who you are now in Christ. We are Gods workmanship created in Christ Jesus. The focus is on God, the great Creator. It is He who has made us who we are in Christ and not we ourselves. And so, if it is God’s work it must be excellent. God did not leave it to us to make ourselves who we are in Christ. And those who assume that they are responsible to make themselves who they ought to be in Christ usually either have difficulty in perceiving the truth that they are truly righteous and holy and fully pleasing to God in Christ or they presumptuously boast of who they are in Christ as being the outcome of their discipline and efforts. People may find fault with us. And we ourselves may be quick to declare our imperfections. But when we realize we are Gods workmanship, the expression of God’s creative excellence, we cannot do otherwise but accept the truth by faith that we who are in Christ are excellently and wonderfully made and the magnificent creation we are in Christ is of God and not of us. In converting you from a sinner to a saint God Himself did the work that was required and created you into a new man in true righteousness and holiness in Christ to express His masterpiece. And the truth is that being God’s masterpiece is not a matter of us not stumbling, and falling, and sinning but of God’s amazing grace in lifting us up and cleansing us by the blood of Christ if we sin in order to uphold or sustain us in the purity and holiness of His new creation in Christ. And so, who can criticize, or despise, or condemn you who are in Christ when it is God who has made you who you are in Christ and you are an exhibit of Gods workmanship in Christ? Psalms 100:3: “Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” 2 Corinthians 4:6-7: “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.” Ephesians 2:10: “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 4:23-24: “Be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.”
