You Atheist, I Love you. When I was young and had been an altar server for 3years. I used to want God to show me Himself just as He did to the Saints.I wanted to know more about Him, if He really exist or not. I kept wondering why God seem to be far away from our sight and senses. Perhaps you are wondering the same thing about your own life. Then I used to pray, God appear to me, let me experience your presence. I used to want God to show up at night in my room, so I would light up a candle, closed the doors and windows, expecting God to appear to me and with one eye open, waiting for God to show up. Then I would look and there would be nothing but flames of fire springing up from the candle. Sometimes, I would hear a little noise outside and I would open the door, thinking that Hes right there at the door,yet when I looked outside, all I could see was a rat running across the yard. Some Angels!Lol I persisted in wanting to God to show Himself to me and to guide me. At a point I started attending different denominational churches thinking I will see him show in any of their gathering. Yet no way. I diverted to asking questions on how I can see Him. God is everywhere, Hes within you that was the only reply I got. I wasnt satisfied yet, then I switched to reading non religious books, books written by pronounced scientist and philosophers that rejected God. These books atimes get complicated that atimes it seems hard for me to comprehend. I remember then my room mate once said to me chidoo lekwa gi,isi ga agbawakwa gi(chidoo,u go soon run mad one day). I never stop attending church programmes. It all continued this way until one day, I made a phone call to someone, when she picked, I told her that I would like to see her. Hmm, you can imagine the reply she gave me, see me for what! Have you finish reading your books? My girlfriend talked to me like this? I got furious, ending the call I sat there pondering on it, what have I done that that she had refused to visit me. As this was going on,I felt as if another voice was saying to me, See for me for what! Have you carefully studied your bible? I realized then that if you doesnt trust His word, God doesnt have anything to reveal to you on. For those of us who want to know God if He is there, he says you will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart, I will be found by you (Jeremiah 29:13-14). God does not force us to believe in Him,though He could. Instead He has provided sufficient evidence for His existence for us to willingly respond to Him. The earths perfect distance from the sun, the unique chemical properties of water, the human brain, DNA, the number of people who attest to knowing God, the gnawing in our hearts and minds to determine if God is there, the willingness of God to be known through Jesus christ. All these explains that there is a supernatural Being engineers them. Iv took time to explain that of DNA in one of my earlier post and reply.(You can refer to my timeline..) Iv made time to put some argument with some atheist friends here on facebook, they keep critisizing the bible based on the stories of the old testament; such argument on the stories of genocide killings approved by God,the possibity of Noahs ark to contain him and the animals,the story on creation and others. Well,the old testament is old and the new testament is new. Unless theres an error the new always replaces the old. The purpose of the old testament is to document how man misunderstood God and the new testament is the CRITICAL REVIEW of the old testament which is why you will notice COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS made by God in the gospel.(Ayoola Oke..knowing God). For example, Matt 5:21- you have heard that it was said of them of old time, thou shall not kill and whoever shall kill shall be in danger of judgement. (Matt 5:22) but I said unto you that whosoever that is angry with his brother without any cause shall be in danger of judgement and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council. But whosoever shall say thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. The central theme or theoritical frame of reference is repeated in these scriptures. Mattew 7:12. Therefore all things whatever you would that men should do to you, do you even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. John 4:21- And this commandment we have from Him,that He who loveth God love his brother also. Does God exist? If you want to know, investigate Jesus Christ. We are told that God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.(John 3:16). Take a look at the major founders of all the world religions; mohammed, Buddha, moses and others. All identified themselves as teachers or prophets. None of them ever claimed to be equal to God. It was only Jesus and that is why Jesus is set apart from all the others. Someone once said to me here on facebook, was there an archeological evidence of jesus? This is laughable. People today from all over the world troop out in millions to jerusalem for prigrimage. What do they go there to see? Atheist Darwin I think! God loves you Atheist. Yes he do. And that is why he has allowed you to keep thinking about him. Take a look at: a story by a former atheist. I was once an atheist, the issue of people believing in God bothered me greatly. What is it about atheist that we would spend so much time, attention and energy refuting something that we dont believe even exist?! What causes us to do that? When I was an atheist I attributed my intentions as caring for those poor delusional people--- to help them realize that their hope is completely ill founded. To be honest I also had another motive. As I challenge those who believe in God, I was deeply curious to see if they could convince me otherwise. Part of my quest was to become free from the question of God. I didnt realize that the reason the topic of God weighed heavily on my mind was because God was pressing the issue. I have come to find that that God wants to be known. He created us with the intension that we would know Him. He has surrounded us with the evidence of Himself and He keeps the question of His existence squarely before us. It was as if I cant excape thinking about the possibility of God. Infact the day I choose to acknowledge Gods existence my prayer begin with ok, you win.... It might be that the underlying reason atheists are bothered by people believing in God is because God is actively pursuing them. He is not the only one. There are so many acclaimed atheist, sciencist and philosophers who knows the truth about Gods existence but has refused to speak up. The bible even said it that there are people who have seen sufficient evidence, but they have suppressed the truth about God (Romans 9:19-21). Looking at these facts one can conclude that a loving God does exist, and can be known in an intimate, personal way. Happy sunday.
