Being there when they wake in the morning and when they are back home from school is very important. Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Meaning to be firm and true to your word. This will protect you from wasteful impluse buying. Learn to focus on needs and not wants. Dispose of things you never use-books,cloths, gadgets. The more stuff you have the more you have to clean, repair and maintain. Train your children to tidy up every night. Dont let your home get out of control. Such domestic discipline teaches your children to take responsibility for their room and even for the home. Of course your good example will add weight to your words. Although you may be very busy, you must spend time with your children- not just brief periods of so-called quality time but as much time as you can give to them. Deuteronomy 6:7. These days families hardly sit at the dinning table to have meals. Everyone wisks away with their plate to their private space, because they are too busy to take time off of their phone, or laptop. This pattern of life style as taken away so much from family time. You may not be able to take your kids out to dinner, but you can create that kind of atmosphere at home.
