You all can still go camping in winter without too much special - TopicsExpress

You all can still go camping in winter without too much special gear. Here is how I do it. Bring a dome tent 12 foot or smaller, get an electric site, you will need a heavy gauge extension cord rated 15 amp or higher, pack one or two electric heaters (modern ceramic safety heaters), two heaters will need two cords. Place a tarp over the tent to keep the heat in and leave a few inches at the ground for ventilation. Do not use a heater with any other fuel source besides electric. The tent will stay above 60 degrees with temperatures down to 20 degrees with light to moderate wind or use two heaters for colder temperatures. If you go to Mirror Lake each campsite has two circuits, 1 15 amp and 1 30 amp circuit. You will need a small round adapter to plug into the 30 amp circuit with a regular cord if you want to use two heaters. One heater per circuit! Sometimes I do not even need a sleeping bag! I normally have the campground at Mirror Lake State Park all to myself every winter. :)
