You are going to the hospital with a patient who is not breathing. - TopicsExpress

You are going to the hospital with a patient who is not breathing. They are intubeated and placed onto a ventilator. IVs started 12-lead EKG done and transmitted to the ED, cardiac monitor, SPO2, ETCO2, the whole ball of wax. As you are going through traffic you come to a red light and slow down to be sure it is safe to proceed. Showing due regard for the public safety. Suddenly a car comes around you at an excess of 100 miles per hour with hazard lights flashing and blowing the horn running the red light and in the process nearly hitting another vehicle. You proceed to the ED and there in the place you need to park is the very same car with hazard lights flashing unoccupied. You go in and see the nursing staff putting a patient with a possible fractured leg into a wheel chair and rolling them to triage. Had they called 911 we would have splinted the leg and probably treated their pain. Transporting them routine to the ED. Just hard to figure sometimes isnt it? The thought processes of people.
