You are invited to the first ever parkrun annual lunch to be held at the Mercure Hotel in the heart of Perth. With cricket legend Adam Gilchrist confirmed as guest speaker it is sure to be a day to remember! The goal of the parkrun annual lunch is to create an annual focal point for all parkrun communities in the state to gather socially outside of the usual Saturday morning parkrun environment. All proceeds from this event will go towards launching further parkrun events in the state. We aim to hold similar events in key parkrun cities across the country on an annual basis but have chosen Perth as the host city for this inaugural event. Since the launch of WAs first parkrun at Claisebrook Cove in August 2012, we have experienced considerable growth and at time of writing the state is now home to another 8 events at Aveley, Bunbury, Canning River, Carine Glades, Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Manjimup, Pioneer and Rockingham. By event day, August 30, there will be another 2 events launched at Mt Clarence and Lake Joondalup (Heirisson Island launches on September 6). We would be delighted to see members of all 12 WA parkrun communities present on August 30 so we can get a true flavour of whats happening across the state. Highlights will include: - 3 course buffet lunch; - Welcome by parkrun Territory Director for Western Australia and Claisebrook Cove parkrun Event Director Jon Storey; - Rafael Baugh from The Running Centre, the best running shoe store in Perth, will be providing some motivation and advice to those running City to Surf the next day. TRC was also have some of their latest and greatest kit available for you to try; - Cricket legend and Suncorp Bank runPositive Ambassador Adam Gilchrist will be joining us for a Q&A on stage with parkrun Australia General Manager Tim Oberg. So that’s the plan! As this is our first ever ‘parkrun annual lunch’ we really hope the WA parkrun community will get behind it. Capacity for the Mercure Perth is 200 people so let’s fill every last seat and raise enough funds to launch the next parkrun event/s in Western Australia.
