You belong to your choice! Sadly, unkind words and deeds creep into Christians lives. I know Im aware of instances in my life. How many times have you heard folks excuse unchristian behavior and attitudes with, Well, thats just human nature?..... This excuse doesnt work for Christians because they are not supposed to be living according to their human natures. Christ is our new nature, and he changes our attitudes and our actions day by day. By no means saying you dont have a human nature. It is still there just as it was before you gave your life to Christ. Our old nature is constantly struggling with our new nature, however, its power is rendered helpless when you decide to lay it aside. Choosing to make a permanent commitment to Jesus Christ allows his power to be active in you. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-25 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness? But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. Romans 6:12-18 You belong to your choice. Your old nature, the flesh- sin. Your new nature, Jesus Christ. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:7, 8
